From the first scene to the reader
Four steps, and the book is with readers- 1
Write the scenes
Proper typography, acts and chapters.Text with proper quotes and dashes, a full-screen mode, edit history. Acts and chapters for a big book.
“Who’s there?” you whispered, but behind the door they fell silent. - 2
Link them with choices
Conditions, consequences, chance transitions.Conditions like “Courage ≥ 3”, outcomes like “Coins −5”, chance-based turns, text that depends on past decisions.

Questions
Do I need to know programming?
No. Conditions and outcomes are put together from lists: “Courage”, “≥”, “3”. Variables go into the text as chips.
Where are my drafts kept?
In your browser, and with an account in the account too. You can download a backup of a project as a file and open it on another computer.
What language should I write in?
Any. The studio speaks Russian and English, and a book’s translation is made in the studio itself and opens to readers when it’s ready.
How do I get into the catalog?
Finish the book, add a cover, an age rating and at least one ending — and send it for review. It takes 1–2 days, and later updates reach readers at once. By link you can show a book any time, even unfinished.
How much does it cost?
The studio and publishing are free. You sell paid books through your own store on Gumroad or Patreon — readers’ money goes straight to you. For using the platform, Letopis sends you an invoice once a month: 10% of the purchases and subscriptions of readers who came from Letopis. What the month comes to is in the author’s desk, under “Money”.
Who owns the rights to the book?
The book stays yours. By publishing it you allow Letopis to show it to readers — by link or in the catalog. Publishing rules →
